Just to perhaps search for a link between this question of comedy and tragedy and the future of the novel, nobody has had anything very helpful to say about the comic novel and its future, if any. I was just wondering if most of the speakers feel that the nature of our times has sort of cast a blight over the comic spirit in general so that it's really pretty difficult for art to flourish. |
